1.India’s Q1 Current Account Turns Deficit Reserve Bank of India data shows that India’s current account balance swung to a $2.4 billion deficit (around 0.2% of GDP) in Q1 of FY 2025-26, primarily due to a wider trade deficit. However, gains from services exports (up to $47.9 billion) and rising remittances ($33.2 billion) softened the blow. Analysts caution rising U.S. tariffs and trade strains may drive the deficit past 1.2% of GDP, potentially putting pressure on the rupee.

2.India–EU Relations Deepen India and the European Union are accelerating their strategic partnership, focusing on trade, counterterrorism, and Indo-Pacific cooperation. A new strategic agenda is expected on September 17, while the 13th round of FTA negotiations begins this week in New Delhi, followed by the 14th round in Brussels next month. High-level visits are planned to fast-track the process.
