🔹 1. National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR)
Established in 2007 under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, the NCPCR ensures that laws and policies are aligned with child rights as per the Constitution and UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It investigates violations, monitors implementation of schemes, and promotes awareness on child protection.
🔹 2. National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) This statutory body under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, advises the central government on wildlife conservation. It is chaired by the Prime Minister and includes various experts and officials. NBWL approves projects near protected areas and is key to balancing development and ecology.
🔹 3. National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) Formed in 2003 under the Biological Diversity Act, the NBA is headquartered in Chennai and regulates access to biological resources and traditional knowledge. It ensures fair benefit-sharing and advises the government on conservation of biodiversity.
🔹 4. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Established in 2008 under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, FSSAI regulates the manufacture, storage, distribution, and sale of food to ensure it is safe for consumption. It sets food safety standards and licenses food businesses across the country.
🔹 5. National Green Tribunal (NGT) Set up in 2010, NGT is a specialized judicial body for expeditious disposal of environmental cases. It deals with matters relating to environmental protection, forests, and the enforcement of legal rights related to the environment.
🔹 6. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) Formed in 2008 by RBI and IBA, NPCI manages digital payment systems like UPI, RuPay, BHIM, and IMPS. It has revolutionised India's digital payment landscape and promotes financial inclusion and faster banking services.
🔹 7. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Established in 1997, TRAI regulates telecom services in India. It ensures transparency, fair pricing, and consumer protection in telecom and broadcasting. It plays a crucial role in spectrum allocation and mobile number portability.
🔹 8. Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) BARC India, set up in 2010, is an industry body that provides television audience measurement (TRP ratings). It collects and analyses viewership data which impacts advertising and content creation decisions in Indian television.
🔹 9. National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) Formed in 1958, NAFED is a top-level cooperative involved in procurement and marketing of agricultural produce. It supports farmers by ensuring fair prices and stabilising markets through procurement under MSP schemes.
🔹 10. National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) Established in 2008 under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, NSDC promotes skill training through public-private partnerships. It funds and supports vocational training institutions, focusing on employability and entrepreneurship.
